Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our System Testing team. As part of this team, you will perform systems level testing in our Integrated Test Labs during the second shift (3pm to 11pm). The data gathered in our integrated test labs will drive hardware and software design improvements and accelerate the path to production-ready components.
Your work will play a crucial role in ensuring our aircraft meet the rigorous safety and performance standards required for FAA certification, a key milestone in bringing our innovative technology to market. The Joby team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. We are looking to expand this team with like-minded individuals eager to leave a mark in the aviation industry. This position will primarily be based in Santa Cruz initially; with potential support required in Marina.
Responsibilities
- Write and execute system level verification testing in the integrated test labs (ITLs)
- Perform the responsibility of Pilot-in-the-Loop and Test Directors, and train others
- Improve Standard Operating Procedures and checklists
- Maintain configuration control of the ITLs’ hardware & software, as well as calibration records
- Drive Root Cause Corrective Actions with cross-functional Subject Matter Experts
- Adhere and improve tools & processes to ensure safe, fast and repeatable test execution
- Analyze data collected during the aforementioned tests to generate reports to provide quantifiable feedback to the engineering teams that will allow them to optimize their designs
Required
- B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of work experience in relevant industry.
- Experience running tests in a lab environment.
- Experience with Instrumentation, Data Acquisition Systems and Sensors
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
Desired
- Experience with high-voltage power-electronics
- Experience with LabVIEW and Veristand
- Experience with industrial test laboratory environments, procedures and safety
- Polarion requirements and test case documentation experienced a plus
- Experience with aircraft certification (ARP 4754, DO-178), regulatory requirements, compliance testing, aircraft software engineering processes, and test verification.
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $90,100 - $143,500/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
