Overview
The Accounting Project Manager is responsible for leading initiatives to streamline and accelerate the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. This role partners
with accounting, finance, IT, and operational teams to identify process inefficiencies, implement best practices, leverage automation, and track results to reduce close cycle times
without compromising accuracy or compliance.
Responsibilities
Process Analysis & Design
- Evaluate current close processes, timelines, and dependencies to identify bottlenecks.
- Conduct root cause analysis of delays and recommend solutions aligned with accounting best practices.
- Develop future-state workflows that incorporate automation, standardization, and efficiency gains.
Project Management
- Lead and manage multiple close-related process improvement projects from initiation to completion.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and resource requirements; monitor progress against milestones.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings and ensure alignment with stakeholders.
Implementation & Change Management
- Partner with IT to implement ERP system enhancements, automation tools, and integrations.
- Standardize and document closing procedures, templates, and checklists.
- Deliver training to accounting staff to support adoption of new processes and tools.
Performance Measurement & Reporting
- Track key performance metrics (e.g., days to close, number of post-close adjustments, error rates).
- Report on progress to leadership and recommend further optimization opportunities.
- Establish a continuous improvement culture within the accounting function.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close responsibilities.
- 3+ years of project management experience; PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, NetSuite) and accounting automation tools.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence without direct authority.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $74,200 - $122,600/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
