Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer with strong experience in Python programming language, and a strong background with data pipelines and integrations to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building high-performance, data-rich backend systems leveraging AI/ML and eager to tackle complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and services using Python.
• Build and optimize data pipelines to handle large volumes of data efficiently.
• Develop and integrate web APIs to facilitate seamless communication between services and applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver robust technical solutions.
• Write Helm charts to provision required infrastructure and set up monitoring to meet SLAs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Optimize and refactor existing code to improve efficiency and maintainability.
• Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role with a focus on Python (Go experience is a plus)
• Experience with Shopify and Google Drive integrations.
• Strong proficiency in designing and managing data pipelines and integrations.
• Expertise in developing and optimizing web APIs for high performance and scalability.
• Experience with low-latency programming techniques and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills in English and teamwork abilities.
• Based in the US, South America or Europe
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with additional programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Go, TypeScript).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with data processing systems including (Py)Spark, Airflow, etc.
• Experience with database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and distributed systems.

Contract Details

• Term: 6 months
• Hours/Week: 40 (full-time contract)
• Location: Remote
