Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Products will be a hands-on leader and idea generator, always focused on what is next for Owlet across product lines and services including: Sock, Cam, Band, Dream Lab and Monitor Duo. S/he will collaborate every day with the Software and Hardware Engineering Leadership teams, developing new concepts and inspiring development teams to help turn these concepts into reality. S/he has to bond and collaborate with the Sales team and integrate the voice of the customer into everything we do. The VP Products will be a member of the Company’s executive team and is expected to collaborate with the leadership team. This executive will closely partner with key technical and business stakeholders to drive cohesion and results across the organization on current and future products and platform strategies, plans, and deliverables. S/he will be the holistic product & services executive owner and the executive leader responsible for translating business strategies into product plans, owning definition and execution for all aspects of those plans from inception to delivery and support, as well as delivering to key financial and strategic metrics for the Company’s products and services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  Create a roadmap of products, services and features  Build a strong team of product managers  Partner with Sales and ensure their input is embodied in our product roadmaps.  Through customer visits and our VOC teams ensure the voice of the customer is represented in all the product planning.  Analyze customer segmentation and define the new products and services to fully monetize all the different constituencies within each customer. Demonstrate the ROI for each customer segment.  Define a product vision that is innovative, ambitious and compelling, and be a passionate evangelist for that vision. Be recognized as a thought leader with a full grasp of industry trends.  Possess an agile mindset and believe in putting new products in the hands of users as fast as possible.  Engage stakeholders to align on clear, actionable product strategy and priorities to deliver optimal results for customers and the business.  Using market experience to drive innovative and effective pricing models and programs to match the use cases and customer buying cycles.  Drive engagement with customers and external facing stakeholders to understand and analyze customer and partner needs across a highly competitive and evolving landscape.  Collaborate with executive leadership and partner with Finance, Operations and Sales to develop and drive business cases and plans for existing offerings and incremental or new innovation.  Partner with engineering leaders to drive agile delivery of both existing and new software and hardware solutions across a three-year (or longer) roadmap.  Develop and drive comprehensive go-to-market plans for existing and new software and hardware offerings including either delivery or collaboration across marketing, demand generation and customer acquisition, internal and external sales enablement, route-to-market and partnering opportunities across all segments.  At the appropriate time, manage and develop strategic alliances as well as technology partners.

DESIRED OUTCOMES  Alignment of existing product development plans, schedules, deliverables, within the initial twelve months, and the formulation of the subsequent 24-month global roadmap spanning HW and SW deliverables.  Plans and mobilized action steps to improve internal development and communication efficiency and effectiveness to drive organizational speed and responsiveness.  Continued investment in technology that drives meaningful innovation and product development for future revenue growth while continuing to reinforce Owlet’s position as having a best-in-class consumer engagement platform and end-user experience.

The Vice President of Product should have a seasoned track record of leading product development functions in technology and consumer facing hardware/software/firmware and cloud organizations. The candidate must have proven experience running a 15+ person product & platform development organization and have managed high volume, hardware and software product-lines or business units. The executive will have developed product and organizational strategies that drove meaningful innovation, product and service delivery, revenue growth, and industry leadership recognition, as well as instituted improved product development processes and systems while also collaborating with other functions across the company. The executive should have an obsession for end-customer satisfaction, user centric design, and high-reliability, and scalability of products and platform globally. S/he should have exceptional talent management and proven development leadership skills. S/he should be highly solutions oriented with strong project and technical management skills, and have a passionate interest for products, customers, and distribution channels within the connected-consumer products industry.

THIS IS A FAST-PACED COMPANY, that thinks and act quickly. The person also needs to be articulate, be able to make a case for their point of view and to SELL IT to exec team (EVP Sales, CEO, etc.) and they must be able to develop a point of view and defend it vociferously. IDEAL EXPERIENCE 10+ years of experience in product leadership for consumer-focused integrated software and hardware solutions  Expertise in leading and executing all phases of hardware and software product strategy, design and delivery product management, preferably with an emphasis on the development of B2C and/or consumer electronic solutions.  8+ years (more recent) with software architecture/cloud centric software/IoT/solutions product leadership experience. 5+ years in a market-facing leadership role  Has external-facing experience in representing a company, brand or products. External includes trade with analysts, partners and with customers/ retail channels. Agile development processes  5+ years of experience in both Kanban and Agile development processes.  Demonstrated expertise in accelerated product design and management velocity to innovate, as well as manage cost. Leading teams  Leadership of product teams of at least 15 people directly and a much larger team via influence. Leadership experience in a rapidly growing consumer environment at both large and small companies.

Education  Undergraduate engineering degree required; Graduate degree (technical or MBA) preferred. CRITICAL LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES Strategic Thinking The new Vice President of Product should be an exceptionally strong thought leader and communicator with a sound technical and product management background. This new executive will bring success to the organization by:  Explaining specifically how changes in competitors, clients, and market segments affect Owlet’s products.  Translating Owlet’s strategies into clear, specific objectives and plans for the product team.  Creating product plans that address specific market segments.  Thinking two to three years ahead.
Driving Results The Vice President of Product will have a strong results-orientation coupled with a drive to consistently and efficiently deliver to Owlet and its customers. This individual should also be able to build and motivate the product team into a proactive, execution-focused organization. To support these objectives, the successful candidate must be able to:  Enable higher performance by incrementally improving product management approaches based on calculated risks and benefits.  Benchmark his/her own performance against industry best practices.  Proactively seek to improve processes and implement best-in-class solutions, raising quality and productivity in a calculated way.  Identify new processes and/or systems to improve productivity and/or make the product organization more efficient. Collaborating and Influencing Owlet is seeking a product management leader with a dynamic and collaborative style who leads by example and possesses a strong focus on partnering with other executives. This individual should be a strong leader who can build immediate credibility with the senior leadership team and the organization. To support these objectives, the position requires someone who:  Facilitates discussion among parties, promotes collaboration across multiple parties.  Identifies and meets with key players and stakeholders to help them shape a consensus collectively and engages in a dialogue to reach a conclusion together, compromising as necessary for results.  Develops explicit understanding of which relationships are most important to the organization and its stakeholders, builds a network prioritizing these relationships.
