The Team
The Data Platform team at Tinder is responsible for a suite of systems that enable the company to gain insights into app performance and user interactions. Our team is dedicated to achieving three core objectives:
Stability: Ensuring no data loss or delays in data processing.
Usability and Agility: Delivering high-quality data to support analytics and machine learning needs effectively.
Governance: Upholding robust data governance practices to ensure compliance with legal standards.
Where you’ll work:
This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration twice per week. This position is located in Los Angeles, CA or Palo Alto, CA.
In this role, you will:
- Improve trust in our data by championing for data quality across the organizationInfluence and help build the next generation Data Platform at Tinder
- Improve the resiliency and performance of our existing platformEmpower colleagues by building and supporting self-serve tools for data exploration and analysis
- Collaborate and build strong partnerships with Product, AI/ML, Data Science, Trust & Safety
- Mentor junior members of the team
You’ll need:
- 3+ years of industry experience with a strong track record in data engineering and software development.
- Strong programming skills in at least one object oriented programming language such as Java or python.
- Experience in designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines that ensure data quality and accessibility.
- Experience in large-scale distributed data processing platforms, such as Databricks or Apache Spark.
- Solid knowledge of data warehousing, data lake and data modeling techniques.
- Solid proficiency in SQL for querying, data manipulation, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Dagster for workflow management and automation.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Scala
- Experience with Kafka/MSK
- Experience in Flink
- Experience with Delta Lake
- Familiarity with data visualization tools
