About the Role:
Hinge is seeking an experienced leader with a deep passion for coaching and growing others to lead the Data Science and Analytics team that supports our Growth Product Group. This role will report to the Director of Data Science and Analytics and will be an integral part of Hinge’s Data Leadership team.
In this role you will be responsible for leading a high performing team of Data Scientists and Data Analysts that provides insights to enable data driven decision making throughout the Product Development process. You will partner closely with leads across Product Management, User Research, Design, Engineering, Strategy, Finance, Marketing, and Trust & Safety to help establish and drive forward our roadmap and strategy for the Growth Product Group.


  • Manage an organization of Data Scientists and Data Analysts
  • Empower your team to execute on the reporting, analytics, and experimentation needs of Product and other teams at Hinge
  • Continuously identify new opportunities to apply different data & analytical methodologies to support Product Development
  • Partner with Product Leadership to establish best practices, processes, and principles for Product Development
  • Evolve the mission, technical direction, and culture of the Growth Data Science and Analytics team
  • Collaborate with other Data Science and Analytics leaders to establish long term (two years) vision for the Data Science and Analytics team and translate that into quarterly objectives
  • Develop annual roadmaps for Data Science and Analytics projects and hiring, and translate those into quarterly plans
  • Coach, grow and empower team members
  • Collaborate with Machine Learning & Algorithms, Business Intelligence, and Data Engineering teams on high impact Data projects
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience as a data scientist, including 2+ years as a manager
  • Deep technical expertise and experience in Product Analytics (A/B Testing) with strong understanding of and exposure to Machine Learning
  • Extensive experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and other disciplines at both the leadership and hands-on levels
  • Passion for developing and coaching direct reports
  • Full commitment to team members’ well-being
  • Experience building and delivering on long term plans, strategy, projects, and hiring plans
  • Proficiency in SQL and python
  • Superb communication skills, particularly the ability to listen, synthesize, advocate, and evangelize
