About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to join the Business Intelligence (BI) team at Hinge.
The BI team at Hinge empowers the business by providing self-service tools and ad hoc analytics to make insights from our data more visible and accessible. As a BI Engineer, you will work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand and support their reporting and analytics needs by developing and maintaining self-service tools in Looker powered by dbt.
Responsibilities:
- Power critical decision making in all areas of the company by developing analytical tools that allow users to explore data and surface insights on their own
- Migrate downstream SQL transformations into robust dbt models
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand and translate their business needs into self-service reporting & analytics solutions
- Effectively model data in Looker to ensure our reporting is performant
- Create effective and engaging dashboards with useful visuals that allow users to quickly surface insights
- Leverage your strong understanding of data modeling principles to partner with Data Engineering to help design, scale and maintain our analytics data warehouse that provides clean, accurate, and robust datasets to be leveraged for reporting & analytics
- Develop an expert understanding of Hinge data, key business metrics, and factors that can impact performance
- Assist in structuring and scaling Hinge’s back end analytical architecture that features Airflow, dbt, Looker, Docker and Redshift
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years in business intelligence engineering or related data & analytics fields
- Expertise with data modeling and development in Looker (Advanced LookML)
- Expertise working with dbt
- Advance proficiency in SQL in a big data environment
- Strong understanding of data modeling processes and methodologies
- Expertise in data visualization and dashboard design principles & best practices
- Familiarity with security and administration of Looker
- Superb communication and collaboration skills
