Hinge is the dating app designed to be deleted
In today's digital world, finding genuine relationships is tougher than ever. At Hinge, we’re on a mission to inspire intimate connection to create a less lonely world. We’re obsessed with understanding our users’ behaviors to help them find love, and our success is defined by one simple metric– setting up great dates. With tens of millions of users across the globe, we’ve become the most trusted way to find a relationship, for all.
About the Role
Hinge is the fastest growing dating app, and we’re looking for an Art Director / Designer of Marketing with a big heart and a small ego, who lives to inspire, to join Hinge’s brand team.
You should have a passion for creating inspiring, clear, beautiful, and contemporary work that pushes Hinge to new heights. We’re looking for someone who others describe as a team player and visionary storyteller. You’ll refine Hinge’s visual ID, including design systems, photography, videos, and illustrations to feature in global OOH campaigns, branded editorial, social platforms and other digital platforms.
This role will report to the Design Director of Marketing and will work with the brand and media teams to create campaigns that drive growth.
If you’re a natural narrator, a cosmonaut of culture, and a pixel-perfect self-starter who likes to challenge the status quo—this one’s for you.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain and elevate Hinge’s visual language through the creation of original and inspiring content that helps tell our story around the world.
  • Create and own design systems that allow the marketing team to scale and ship creative quickly and reliably without compromising the brand’s look and feel.
  • Collaborate simultaneously with the Marketing Design Director and Narrative Lead as a world-building creative partner
  • Lead art direction across all communication touch points—both consumer and company facing—with a digital-first mindset. Priorities include social, presentations, web, print, press, events, merch and OOH.
  • Hire, lead, and inspire best-in-class creative partners. This includes freelance, agency and casted talent. We aim to be each partner's favorite and most supportive client.
  • Manage end-to-end production of photo and video shoots across various campaigns including conception, casting, pre-pro, and post-pro.
  • Infuse the team with strong creative ideas and solutions rooted in strategic thinking.
  • Solicit team-wide feedback to yield a world-class creative output.
  • QA & review all creative assets before final delivery to ensure the work is polished and up to Design/Brand guidelines.
  • Set a standard, maintaining, and improving upon a clear, up-to-date and well-designed library of marketing assets and working files that can be repurposed at any time. This library includes presentations, source files for ads, edited photos, videos, voice-overs, illustrations, collective notes, etc.

What You’ll Need

  • 8+ years of work experience in a visual design role or similar with a proven track record of building world-class brands.
  • An online or PDF portfolio that demonstrates:
  • Your taste and thought process, not just final design work.
  • Passion for great design and art direction, narrative-driven campaigns, stylistic breadth and attention to detail.
  • Experience across digital, print, and motion.
  • Strong sensibilities in typography, graphic design, content layouts, photography, and videography.
  • BA/BS in a related field (e.g. Visual Communication)
  • A clear focus on inclusivity by championing underrepresented talent and the next generation of creative voices.

Who You Are

  • Creative, curious, and hungry; ready to roll your sleeves up to get work done in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Motivated by constantly improving the results of their work.
  • Experienced in managing assignment based freelancers, expectations, and deadlines.
  • A tastemaker with a great eye for what’s to come. Advanced conceptual and “out of the box” thinking.
  • Empathetic with consumers having developed creative design across earned, owned, social and paid media.
  • Strong understanding of brand development and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Impeccable taste in information design and typography, well-versed in digital engagement.
  • Experience designing iteratively based on data from experiments. A high degree of comfort with agile design practices to ship optimal versions of your creative over time.
  • Objective about your work and knowing that sometimes (most times) just because something looks good, doesn’t mean it works. You’ll also need to be comfortable opening yourself up to dialogue and feedback from colleagues.
  • Passionate about collaborating and a true team player. Ability to build relationships at all levels internally and externally.
  • Communicate well with team members and articulate the rationale for design decisions.
  • Effectively interface with leadership, polished executive presence, and inspiring, inclusive leadership style.
  • A distaste for lorem ipsum; a self-starter who takes pride in crafting even the most granular details.
  • Master of Figma, Photoshop and Illustrator with a strong comprehension of social. Additional capabilities in AI tools, photography, and video are encouraged.
  • Fan of Hinge’s brand, app, and mission.
