Our IT Operations team runs the gambit from Network and Database to Systems, DevOps and really, everything between! As a System Administrator at Plenty of Fish you are the consummate generalist who is broadly experienced operating a mixed infrastructure of both Linux and Microsoft systems. You’re always seeking to automate solutions and daily tasks rather than carrying out steps manually. Most importantly you’re willing to learn anything that comes your way.
Please Note: This position is Office-First.
Office-First: You will get to work from our downtown Vancouver office 2-3 days a week, and work remotely the remainder of the week!
So, what will you do?
- Collaborate with our Engineering teams to ensure our features and systems have the highest levels of reliability and performance
- Participate in the administration and management of VMWare clusters, storage and networks in our on-prem data center
- Automate tasks using scripting and tools
- Install, manage and troubleshoot our Linux and Windows infrastructure in a virtualized environment
- Administer Active Directory infrastructure and other Authentication/Authorization tools
- Contribute to the documentation of our environment
- Work in an on-call rotation to support a 24x7 environment
You'll be a match for this role if you have..
- 5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator in an enterprise setting, preferably with a focus on Linux environments.
- 3+ years working in a containerized and/or virtualized environment
- Expert level skills in server troubleshooting, configuration and best practises
- Advanced scripting skills in Bash, Powershell, or Python
- Strong experience with Foreman, Ansible configuration and patch management
- Exposure managing and troubleshooting Nginx and Microsoft IIS
- Willingness to learn new systems and vendors, as needed
- Experience working in an environment that has implemented DevOps and Agile methodologies
- Exposure to containerization and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes/Redis/PostgreSQL as well as monitoring systems such as Splunk, Grafana, and Loki
- Demonstrated proficiency with a range of open source systems and tools
