About Evertune
Evertune is building the first AI discovery platform for modern marketers. As large language models (LLMs) become the go-to source for recommendations – we help brands understand exactly what AI is saying about them, where they stand against competitors, and how to show up more often in AI-powered answers. Our platform turns black-box AI behavior into actionable insights, so marketing teams can make faster, smarter decisions that drive growth.
Founded by leaders who helped scale The Trade Desk into the world’s leading ad tech platform, we bring deep expertise in digital advertising, data, and high-growth environments. Now, we’re pioneering a new category at the intersection of AI, SEO, and brand strategy.
Backed by top-tier VC investors and trusted by forward-thinking brands, we move fast, think boldly, and believe the best ideas win – regardless of title. If you're excited about shaping the future of how brands grow in the age of AI, you’ll thrive here.
Your Role
We’re hiring our first Financial Controller to build the financial backbone of Evertune from the ground up. You won’t just manage numbers – you’ll design and own the systems that keep our business running, growing, and ready to scale.
Billing is the top priority – especially managing our fast-growing, usage-based invoicing process. But you'll also own the rest of our day-to-day financial operations, including sales commissions, vendor payments, international taxes, and other finance functions. You’ll partner closely with our fractional CFO at first, but the goal is for you to fully take over the function and make it your own.
This is a role for a builder. If you’re a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Assistant Controller at a high growth company who’s ready to level up, take ownership, and leave things better than you found them – we want to meet you!
This role requires a minimum of 3 days per week onsite in our NYC office (Flatiron). Candidates must currently be based in the New York City area.
Responsibilities
Own and Build the Financial Engine
Take full ownership of billing, with a focus on usage-based invoicing and high-touch client interactions
Build scalable systems and processes for AP, AR, billing, commissions, reconciliations, and reporting
Reconcile usage data from internal dashboards and transform it into accurate invoices
Manage billing platforms like Stripe, Ramp, QuickBooks, Excel, and client procurement tools like Bill.com, Coupa, and Tipalti
Work directly with clients and sales to handle billing exceptions, usage disputes, and reconciliation questions
Partner with leadership and our fractional CFO to support month-end close, cash flow tracking, and financial reporting
Manage vendor payments, payroll, and compliance workflows
Navigate international tax requirements across our global client base
Spot inefficiencies, design better workflows, and leave every process stronger than you found it
Collaboration
Partner closely with executive leadership, Chief of Staff, and external vendors to streamline back-office operations
Support ad hoc projects from leadership – financial cleanups, spend reviews, contract updates, etc.
While you own finance, you’ll work closely with our Chief of Staff, who will lead ops functions like insurance renewals, benefits, and onboarding
Requirements
5–8 years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 2+ years in a tech company or SaaS startup environment
Strong working knowledge of AR/AP, billing, commissions, vendor payments, payroll, and compliance
Proven experience managing or running usage-based billing systems, preferably with Stripe, QuickBooks, Excel, and procurement platforms like Bill.com, Coupa, or Tipalti
Comfortable owning messy, high-impact workflows – and making them clean, repeatable, and scalable
High level of fluency in spreadsheets and confidence manipulating billing and usage data
Strong communicator who can work across teams and with clients to resolve billing questions or disputes
Experience working closely with executive leadership on monthly close and reporting
Highly organized, detail-obsessed, and accountable – you don’t drop balls
Comfortable wearing multiple hats in an early-stage startup environment
You’re based in the NYC area and available to be in the office at least 3 days per week
Nice to Have (but not required)
Forecasting and financial modeling experience
Experience managing or optimizing revenue operations
International accounting or tax exposure
