Practice Operations and Billing Specialist [Remote]
Operations · Full-time
United States
Have you been the "wear all the hats" person a practice owner relies on to keep everything running—from helping the front desk resolve insurance issues to figuring out why claims aren’t getting paid?
Brace Health is looking for an experienced practice administrator, office manager, or billing manager who wants to bring that knowledge to supporting independent outpatient practices in a billing focused role.
You’ll work directly with practice owners and administrative teams, manage billing from submission through follow-up, and help improve the everyday workflows that affect collections. Your experience inside a practice will help you understand what’s happening, explain what needs to change, and help teams put those changes into practice.
Brace Health combines experienced billing experts with AI technology to support private practices. You’ll also work with our product and engineering teams, using your operational knowledge to help shape better billing tools.
What you’ll do
- Serve as a trusted partner to practice owners. Understand their priorities, answer billing questions, and provide clear updates on outstanding issues and next steps.
- Manage the full billing cycle. Handle claims submission, insurance follow-up, denial resolution, patient statements, and payer communication.
- Connect front-office workflows with billing results. Help practice teams identify and address issues involving registration, insurance information, eligibility, authorizations, and patient balances.
- Investigate problems and follow through. Determine why claims remain unpaid, coordinate with the right people, and keep issues moving toward resolution.
- Turn billing information into practical action. Review accounts receivable and performance trends, explain findings, and recommend improvements.
- Help practice teams build better habits. Guide owners and administrative staff through workflow changes with patience, clarity, and consistent follow-up.
- Improve the tools behind the work. Share recurring challenges with our product and engineering teams and provide feedback on new functionality.
What we’re looking for
You may currently be—or previously have been—a practice administrator, medical office manager, billing manager, or an experienced biller with broader practice responsibilities.
The strongest candidates will bring:
- 3+ years of experience in outpatient practice administration, medical billing, or revenue cycle management, including substantial hands-on billing responsibility.
- Experience personally working claims, investigating denials, following up with payers, and resolving outstanding balances.
- An understanding of how front-desk decisions and administrative workflows affect billing and collections.
- Experience working directly with practice owners, clinicians, and administrative staff.
- The ability to explain billing issues clearly and help others take action.
- Strong organization, sound judgment, and reliable follow-through across competing priorities.
- Comfort learning software, working remotely, and adapting as processes improve.
Experience that’s especially relevant
- Working in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutrition, chiropractic, or behavioral health practices.
- Overseeing or supporting front-desk staff and administrative workflows.
- Serving as the main point of contact for billing questions.
- Training teammates, documenting processes, or improving how a practice operates.
Why this role may be a good next step
You’ve seen how billing problems affect an entire practice. This is an opportunity to bring that perspective to multiple practices, build relationships with their owners, and help them operate more effectively.
You’ll combine practical billing work with problem-solving, communication, and coaching. You’ll also have a voice in how Brace develops its services and technology, bringing the realities of practice operations into those decisions.
